Fig.59 Crazy For Campbells Tomato Soup

Oh my goodness me - I'm all over these cans like a fat boy with a jam doughnut. If I got my hands on these beauty's I wouldn't be getting my tin opener out even on the coldest of day's, They would take pride of place on my kitchen shelf's - will be there until I'm six feet under. If anyone could grab me some from Target I will pay you back with endless rounds of tomato soup (not the limited kind) and cheese on toast for the rest of your life. I really hope they sell them in the uk, But im not holding my breath - these are going to sell like rocket fire. I would have to sell my parents house to afford the frightful prices that there going to be sold on Ebay in the next few days. " Campbell's Soup has released a series of limited-edition, Andy Warhol-inspired soup cans, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first time the artist used one of the cans in his art. Warhol famously featured Campbell's' red and white soup cans in a number of his paintings and screenprints from 1962 onwards, and he apparently was a regular consumer of the condensed soup inside the cans too, once commenting that he had eaten it for lunch every day for 20 years. The cans also represented his interest in the imagery that he saw every day, which also led him to reproduce Coca-Cola bottles and Brillo boxes in his work. The special edition Campbell's cans aren't exact replicas of Warhol's work, though reference the bright colours he introduced in his 1965 series featuring the cans. The series will be on sale at Target in the US, with 1.2 million cans released, at 75 cents each (unsurprisingly though, cans have already begun springing up on eBay for considerably more)." Fig.58 Moonrise Kingdom

I finally went to see Wes Andersons incredible Moonrise Kingdom with my bestie Charlotte. My word what a feast for the eye's, I don't think I blinked all the way through it. The pace was just right, styling and art direction was just overwhelmingly perfect - loved it. The tent, the towel the yellow formica table with the yellow dial phone, the clothes, the font & graphics. Absolutely amazing I could carry on but it would sound like one of those memory games you played as a kid. I thought Rushmore was my favorite but Anderson has set the bar high, This would be hard to beat. Get yourself to the cinema.

Fig. 57 A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE

The other weekend when I was last home visiting the folks, my Mum finally got the huge box of family photo's down from the attic, for me to look through. These were just a few of my favorites. These photo's are filled with such joy and charisma. The photo of all the children on the bench eating ice cream, is of my Nanny and my Mum and her three brothers, I love the sandals the boys are wearing and the concentration on each of there face's. My Nanny was always so serene she had such an air of beauty and softness, I remember her smelling of almonds. The one with all the men lined up on the beach (Fresh Water East Pembrokeshire) makes me laugh so much the man on the right, was my beloved great Uncle Chum. The photo of the couple on the horse's is my Nanny & Grandad - How amazing do they look? and so romantic, they had recently just met when the photo was taken. All these photo's were taken by my grandad he was a remarkable man. A man of many talents and Im so glad one of them was photography, so I have all the past to look through and admire and love.

Fig 54, Super Market Sweet!

Im all over this vintage packaging like a fat boy with a jam doughnut, Just look at the shapes and the beautifully bold graphics's not unlike the master of Graphic Design Saul Bass. I say Sainsbury's should bring it back, This sort of packaging would fly off the shelf's. Who need's expensive photography and finishes, when you can have these in your larder showcased like an exhibition in the Tate Modern. I wonder if my great great aunt still has these festering in the back of her cupboards?

Fig 51. Mo Tastic

Last night I went to the official 'Movember Launch Party' held at the Village Underground E2, I had a motastic time with the Mo Sister's and Brother's.
As some of you may know this time last year my Dad was in Hospital getting treated for Prostate Cancer so this is a charity so very close to my heart (My Dad is now doing really well and our friends & family are so relieved and chuffed that we aren't all suffering like last year) - I wish the Movember team all the very best for this Movember, let's try and beat last years record of £11.7 million (UK campaign).
Say good bye to your upper lip, razors & shaving foam say hello to masculinity, and ten more minutes in bed. Let the hairy raising commence. And guys 80% of girls think men are more attractive with facial hair, so get it on.

Fig 43 I CAN SEE A RAINBOW

I can see a rainbow - I have yet to find the treasure at the end of one but have found many a rainbow which gives me the same joy as a real one -see my three examples above - shower curtain from Anthropologie, tights from Olive Shoppe and a sunset melty image by my favorite photographer Mark Borthwick. I love the colours - how they melt into one another like warm butter or like watching a piece of litmus paper change colour in chemistry lessons.

Fig 42 Fruit Salad

This bouncy optimistic spring mood board is perfect for this time of year, I have named it the Fruit Salad - as the images are just like those delicious pink and orange sweets, It's a pic a mix of Kate Spade, Mark Jacobs, and Rodarte fashion ads and tears from look books. I can almost hear the sound of an ice cream van's jingle, and the smell of summer rain, on to hot to touch tar mac.
Spring is here folks and summers just around the corner - get the colour on and put your blacks and greys to the back of your wardrobe.

I fell upon Irina Werning's website last Friday, and absolutely loved it how clever and super cool. The detail and styling are spot on, such a great idea. Wish I had thought of it. Think I may have a few classic poses/photo's I could recreate - sitting on a potty fully clothed balancing a snack sized milky bar on my head springs to mind!!

Fig 40 BOBO CHOSES

I have always wanted to have the time to design children's prints and clothes, 'Bobo Choses' is exactly on the mark, It's natural down to earth and quirky but also utterly beautiful and pretty. I love the softness of the clothes and the colour palette & Illutration style. And the Illustrators story on there website - see below

On Sunday mornings, as soon as the sun comes out,
Camille opens her eyes and puts on her battledress:
a tutu and a top hat. She has so many things to do:

Jumping on the bed until her mummy says THAT’S ENOUGH!
Eating loads and loads of cherries.
Hiding all the umbrellas.
Choosing a new favourite colour.
Giving names to the waves.
Asking the wind in a whispering voice to tell her a story.
Letting an ice-cream melt in her hand.
Drawing thousands of faces on thousands of balloons.
Yelling to the winter to go away.
Looking for something unexpected on a map...
But then Camille hears a voice from the other side of the door. Stop that jumping!

SHE HAS SO MANY THINGS TO DO!
